The chess Museum of the Russian chess Federation is the world's first chess Museum, its unique collection reflects the history of world and Russian chess culture. The Museum's collection includes more than 3,000 exhibits, including several hundred chess sets, award cups, paintings, graphics, documents, awards and personal belongings of famous Russian and Soviet chess players. The Museum is located in the center of Moscow, in the building of the Central house of chess player named after M. M. Botvinnik
The mansion where the Museum is located has a great history, which will be told during the tour.
The Museum is based on a part of the collection of the famous Leningrad collector Vyacheslav Alexandrovich Dombrovsky, acquired by the Central chess club from his widow. In the future, the collection grew due to receipts from chess fans and famous chess players, gifts made by chess federations and clubs in different countries.
The Museum exhibits Space chess, the first Magnetic chess, chess of the Gulag and besieged Leningrad.
